Anya Taylor-Joy To Star In ‘Emma’

DEADLINEThe Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy is in talks to star in Emma, an adaptation of the Jane Austen novel for Focus and producers Working title and Graham Broadbent. Autumn De Wilde is directing and Eleanor Catton will write the script. CAA reps the actress, whose recent credits include Split and the upcoming Playmobil: The Movie. She stars in Glass and X-Men: The New Mutants. Troika and Felker Toczek also rep her.

‘Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance’ Sets Taron Egerton, Anya-Taylor Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel To Lead All-Star Voice Cast
DEADLINE – Children of the ’80s are chomping at the bit for Netflix’s forthcoming Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance — and the all-star voice cast will add fuel to their excitement. Taron Egerton (the Kingsman films), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) and Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones) have been set as respective Gefling heroes Rian, Brea and Deet, and other while actors including Helena Bonham-Carter, Toby Jones, Alicia Vikander, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg also lend their voices to the return of Jim Henson’s classic that will launch globally in 2019.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is based on Henson’s 1982 feature The Dark Crystal. The series tells a new epic story, set many years before the events of the movie and realized using classic puppetry with cutting-edge visual effects. We find that the world of Thra is dying. At the heart of Thra is the Crystal of Truth, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelflings uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.

Anya Joins “Peaky Blinders” Season 5

Anya Taylor-Joy Joins ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5

DEADLINEThe Witch and Split‘s Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast of Peaky Blinders‘ fifth season. BBC One, where the Steven Knight-created epic crime saga is moving after spending its first four go-rounds on BBC Two, tweeted the news today, welcoming Taylor-Joy to Birmingham. There’s no word yet on just what her role will be, but the actress tells Deadline, “I could not possibly be more excited to be joining such a talented group of people. I can’t wait to get in and play this character.”

The BBC released a first-look photo of Taylor-Joy, taken by Season 5 director Anthony Byrne on the set of the drama that’s currently filming in Manchester (check it out below). Further cast is expected to be added to the 2018 laureate of the Best TV Drama BAFTA Award.

Deadline recently reported that Season 5 will see Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby face his darkest force yet. As the world is thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929, opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy, who’s now an MP, is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realizes that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.

Helen McCrory and Paul Anderson are also back for Season 5 as are Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips, Natasha O’Keefe, Aidan Gillen, Jack Rowan, Charlie Murphy, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Harry Kirton, Packy Lee, Ned Dennehy, Ian Peck and Benjamin Zephaniah.

Taylor-Joy was recently seen in BBC/Masterpiece mini The Miniaturist and her upcoming feature projects include M Night Shyamalan’s Glass and X-Men film The New Mutants. She’s repped by CAA, Troika, and Felker Toczek.

Peaky Blinders is written by Knight and produced by Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect Drama. Season 5 will air next year.

Anya to Star in “Here Are the Young Men”

Anya Taylor-Joy, ‘Game Of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman, Finn Cole To Star In ‘Here Are The Young Men’

DEADLINEThe Witch breakout star Anya Taylor-Joy, Dean-Charles Chapman (Game Of Thrones), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), and Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (Sing Street) have been tapped as the leads in Here Are The Young Men, a film adaptation based on Rob Doyle’s Irish novel of the same name.  The pic is written and being directed by filmmaker Eoin C. Macken.

The film takes place in 2003 where, in one last summer of adolescence, an aimless teenager named Matthew (Chapman), is pulled into a world of nihilistic toxic masculinity by his charismatic friend Kearney (Cole). Matthew yearns after his childhood sweetheart Jen (Taylor-Joy), an independent girl on her own trajectory, whilst their precocious friend Rez (Walsh-Peelo), starts to succumb to paranoia.

Lola Petticrew and Conleth Hill are set to co-star in the feature, which begins shooting this month.

Producers are TYM Production’s Richard Bolger and Union Entertainment Group’s Noah Haeussner, with Edwina Casey co-producing. Paul W.S. Anderson, Andrew Davies Gans, Conor Barry and Michael Raimondi are serving as executive producers.

Taylor-Joy’s upcoming projects include X-Men film The New Mutants and M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass. Chapman played Tommen Baratheon on GOT and currently recurs on AMC’s Into the Badlands. In addition to the BBC series Peaky Blinders, Cole also stars on the TNT drama Animal Kingdom. Walsh-Peelo plays Alfred the Great in the fifth season of History’s Vikings.

Anya to Star in “Weetzie Bat” Film Adaptation

Anya Taylor-Joy, Nick Robinson & Sasha Lane Star In ‘Weetzie Bat’ Film Adaptation

DEADLINEEXCLUSIVE: Anya Taylor-Joy, who broke onto the scene with her lauded performance in A24’s The Witch, has been tapped as the title character in Weetzie Bat, the film adaptation of Francesca Lia Block’s cult favorite 1980s novel that Justin Kelly is directing. Love, Simon star Nick Robinson, American Honey standout Sasha Lane, Theodore Pellerin (Boy Erased) and Keiynan Lonsdale (Love, Simon, The Flash) also will star in the pic, which is described as a neon-lit fairy tale.

Weetzie (Taylor-Joy) is an ethereal pixie living in 1980s Los Angeles, where she grew up the child of an alcoholic starlet mother and a junkie screenwriter father. She teams up with her Mohawked best friend Dirk (Pellerin) to find love, leading her to mysterious trenchcoat-wearing filmmaker Max (Robinson) and platinum-haired surfer Duck (Lonsdale). But when their bliss is threatened by deaths, breakups and Max’s witchy and bitter ex-girlfriend Vixanne (Lane), Weetzie must take off her pink harlequin sunglasses in order to confront life’s darkness and find happiness in a city known as much for the glamour of fame and fortune as the darkness of cults and crime.

Thor Bradwell, Justin Kelly, and Joshua Thurston are the producers on Weetzie Bat.

Block, who also penned the screenplay for the film, has authored more than 25 books spanning fiction, nonfiction, short stories and poetry. Repped by Intellectual Property Group, she has written scripts for Fox Searchlight and MTV and is currently developing other screenplays based on her work.

Taylor-Joy, recently seen in M. Night Shyalaman’s Split and Cory Finley’s Thoroughbreds, next stars in Fox’s X-Men: The New Mutants and the next film in Shyalaman’s Unbreakable series, Glass. She’s repped by CAA and Troika.
