Anya Taylor-Joy, born 16 April 1996, is an American-born Argentine-British actress and model. Anya is perhaps best known for her role as Thomasin in The Witch (2015).

Anya was born in Miami, Florida, the youngest of six children. Her mother is Spanish-English, and her father is Scottish-Argentinian. As an infant, Anya moved to Argentina and only spoke Spanish, before moving to London at six-years-old. Anya is a former ballet dancer.

In 2015, Anya’s first breakthrough was her leading performance as Thomasin in The Witch. The film was critically acclaimed. Anya starred in the science fiction horror film Morgan in 2016. She portrayed Charlotte Baughman in Barry, which was released on Netflix. Anya starred in the horror-thriller film Split (2016), she portrayed Casey Cooke.

Anya starred as the lead actress Skrillex’s music video for the remix of GTA’s Red Lips.

On November 28, 2016, Anya won the Breakthrough Actor (for The Witch) at the 2016 Gotham Independent Film Awards. Recently, Anya was nominated for the 2017 BAFTA Rising Star Award.
